Trinidad and Tobago - the most southerly of the West Indian Island chain, is geographically South American. Only 18-mile wide channels of the Gulf of Paria divide Trinidad from Venezuela. The adventure traveler or naturalist will find here a great diversity of ecosystems -mountains and thick forests, swamplands, flora and fauna that are both Caribbean and South American.
